Who we are
Gatchanews ("we", "us") is an independent fan site covering hero-collector RPGs. We are the data controller for personal data processed through this website, the Gatchanews desktop app and related services. Contact details are on our about page.
What we collect
- Browsing data — pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type. Collected via server logs and, with consent, analytics.
- Account data — email address, display name, authentication identifiers if you create an account.
- Game account snapshots — if you use the optimiser or desktop sync, the roster and gear data you choose to upload. We do not ask for, and never store, your game passwords.
Cookies and advertising
Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your consent choice. With your consent, our advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads. You can change your choice at any time by clearing the gn_consent cookie or via the consent controls.
Why we use your data (lawful basis)
- To provide the site, your account and the optimiser — performance of a contract.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems — legitimate interests.
- Personalised advertising and non-essential analytics — consent.
- Keeping payment and tax records — legal obligation.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of closure, except where we must keep records for legal reasons. Uploaded game snapshots can be deleted from your account page at any time. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days.
Who we share it with
Hosting, email, payment and advertising providers acting on our instructions, under data processing agreements. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses apply. We never sell personal data.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; object to or restrict processing; and request a copy in a portable format. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). To exercise any right, contact us using the details on the about page.
Children
Gatchanews is not directed at children under 13, and accounts are not intended for them.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top.
